Here in the United States, we all get an opportunity to pause and remember those who have passed on before us, especially those in the military. We at NintendoFuse want to honor those who have given their lives for our freedom in America.
And while many families often spend the day outside on a holiday weekend like this, enjoying the great outdoors with a picnic, hike, or boat ride, others like to relax indoors. If that is your family, or perhaps the bad weather takes your vacation inside, here are a few Wii U games that are sure to keep your family entertained. Yes, we said Wii U! Even though the system is only six months old in the US, there are still several party games on our radar. What’s even better? All five games allow for five players, which lets even more people get in on the fun!
5) Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
While Mario Kart will probably take a spot in future years, the racing genre is still quite new on Nintendo’s newest console. That does not mean the existing games are bad, though. If you are looking for an easy to pickup racer that is fun for everyone, look no further than the blue hedgehog’s outing on Wii U.
4) Chasing Aurora
Many might dismiss this eShop-only title based on its single-player mode, but I want to encourage you to try it again with five players who are competitive and up for a challenge. My guess is that they will be begging to play more. That was my experience, at least, and I think it will be the same for your family and friends.
3) New Super Mario Bros. U
Who doesn’t like Mario, really? While multiplayer Mario games can often turn family members against one another, they can also be times for teamwork and excitement. The Wii U version of the game adds in a fifth player, who can help on the GamePad, so this can be great for the family member who might not prefer traditional controls.
2) Just Dance 4
A few years ago, you would probably struggle to find people dancing at a family get-together. With the help of games like Just Dance, things have changed. The newest version of the game has new songs, including “Gangnam Style” via DLC, and it incorporates a new element by choosing dance moves with the GamePad.
1) Nintendo Land
It was the game included with the Wii U Deluxe Set for a reason. There are many different games included, so you are sure to find at least one that everyone enjoys. I highly recommend the Luigi’s Mansion, Animal Crossing, and Mario games, which all allow for five players, but there are more options too.
The Wii U is still quite new, but I am sure my opinion is different than yours. Perhaps I even overlooked a game or two. What does your family play when you get together for game-nights, vacations, etc.? Share them in the comments or our forums!
